Scheduled Downtime Tomorrow, 9 a.m.-Noon PT
Magic Online will be offline for scheduled maintenance tomorrow, September 17, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon PT (16:00-19:00 UTC). Be sure to follow our social channels for updates.
Vintage Championship Week On Now
Our latest Format Championship event is underway – time to earn glory using the oldest card pool available – it's Vintage Championship Week!
Complete one of the following feats between now and 7 a.m. PT this Saturday in order to earn a Vintage Point:
- Complete a 5-0 Vintage League course
- Finish 4-0 or 3-1 in a Vintage Preliminary – here’s the remaining schedule (all times PT, for UTC add 7 hours):
- Tuesday, September 16 – 6 a.m and 12 noon
- Wednesday, September 17 – 1 a.m., 30 minutes after downtime ends (~12:30 p.m.), and 6 p.m.
- Thursday, September 18 – 3 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Friday, September 19 – 3 a.m., 11 a.m., and 8 p.m.
- Top 8 a Vintage Challenge 32 event – the schedule for those is:
- Thursday, September 18 – 8 a.m.
- Friday, September 19 – 3 p.m.
That Vintage Point is good for free entry into the Vintage Championship Week Finals on Saturday, September 20 at 7:00 a.m. PT. Unlike other Finals events of this type, you are able to directly enter the finals with the entry options of 40 Event Tickets or 400 Play Points or 2 Mythic Event Tokens!
Prizes for the Finals will be the same as a Super Qualifier, but without invitations or Leaderboard Points. In addition, the Top 32 finishers and those with the same record as 32nd place will receive an event-exclusive version of the Vintage Showcase avatar – Psychic Frog!

As usual, you can only enter one of your accounts in the Finals event, and excess Vintage Points will be cleared from accounts next week.
Magic Online All-Access – 1 Week Left
One of our most popular promotions – All-Access – has returned! It’s been almost a year since we last offered it, so let’s bring new folks up to speed on how it works:
The Mythic Event Token is now on sale. As usual it costs $25 USD for access to almost all of the cards on MTGO between time of purchase and 8 a.m. next Tuesday, September 23.
To use All-Access, simply purchase the Mythic Event Token in the Store, then build or import any legal deck in your chosen format. You will likely show negative quantities of cards in the Collection as you drag cards down – this is expected. You can try all Constructed formats with All-Access!
Once your deck is built the way you want it, enter an Open Play game or paid event (entry options still required). No cards will be added to your collection, but you'll be able to play even if you don't have all the cards in your collection.
- Calling all Commander Players – Build your paper decks in MTGO and take them for a spin in our Commander lobby, or if you’re feeling experimental, try our Freeform Commander with your buddies!
- Additionally, we’re bringing back the Competitive Commander league until next week for players who want to battle for prizes – details later in this article.
- Hey Grinders – Whether you’re practicing for the upcoming Modern Pro Tour or aiming to compete in our upcoming Vintage premier events, All-Access is your perfect tool to gain an edge.
- Everybody Else – It's the perfect time to try out our game and play with cards that may be beyond your reach in tabletop (#blacklotusiscalling).
As with previous All-Access periods, certain Premier Events will have an extra entry option of 2 Mythic Event Tokens. This represents a $15 savings compared to the combined cost of All-Access and a single Super Qualifier entry. Your account shouldn’t need more than two total Tokens during the All-Access period. When you spend the Tokens this way, the access remains on your account until the expiry time.
The two events offering the extra entry option are:
- Vintage Championship Week Finals – Saturday, September 20
- Vintage Super Qualifier – Sunday, September 21
We'll remove all Mythic Event Tokens from accounts and turn off All-Access at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23.
Note: If you’re still competing in a Constructed League when All-Access ends, you’ll be allowed to complete that match (not the entire course).
Just like previous All-Access periods, certain cards (Secret Lair versions, TRANSFORMERS, WARHAMMER 40,000, Battlebond, and old-frame Power Nine) are unavailable. Additionally, card variants sold in Bundles (Oil Lands, Retro Shocklands, etc.) are unavailable. Finally, All-Access doesn’t apply to Limited events.
VINTAGE CUBE
Current Vintage Cube League Ending
The current round of Vintage Cube League ends tomorrow. If you haven’t used up your Vintage Cube Draft Tokens, be sure to do so before downtime!
You can always find the most recent Vintage Cube card lists on this page.
CubeCon 2025 – October 16-19
Magic Online is proud to partner with CubeCon, the world’s largest gathering of competitive Cube players. This year’s event will be held Thursday-Sunday, October 16-19 in Madison, Wisconsin. For ticket information as well as which Cubes will be played, visit cubecon.org.

For the third year in a row, MTGO will be providing digital prizes to players who finish in the Top 128 of the CubeCon Main Event, as well additional goodies for all CubeCon attendees! The Top 8 will draft a real-life version of MTGO’s Vintage Cube (not for keeps, though).
The CubeCon community will also get to vote on a Cube to be featured in MTGO for a week in November – more details on that in future weeks.

EVENT UPDATES
Duel Commander Trial Back to 16
After reviewing feedback and event data, we have reverted the change requiring 24 players for a Duel Commander Trial – if will return to 16 as of today. There have been adjustments to the prize table to help meet the original goals of the change – the new prizes can be found here.
MTGO Spellgrounds – Legacy This Week
Great news – our Spellgrounds project continues! Try out a slice of the current Legacy metagame between Monday and Wednesday – all with sideboards geared specifically for this group – all for free!
You’ll encounter a Super-Jump style draft – 3 of the 6 decks are presented randomly for you to select one. Then play up to 3 matches without the pressure of prizes on the line.
Legacy Spellgrounds decklists can be found here.
Due to the upcoming set release and Vintage Cube update, Spellgrounds will be taking a couple weeks off.
We hope you find this is a no- or low-risk way to expand your horizons in Magic Online and it’s a great way to learn new formats! If you have feedback about Spellgrounds, let us know on our Discord channel.
ALTERNATE PLAY
Pack Wars! Kaldheim Continues
Attention Limited fans: We've taken a long-time favorite of Magic at big conventions and brought it into Magic Online. There are some who call it Mini-Master, but on MTGO it’s Pack Wars! This format is up and running and our next set in the crosshairs is the snowy realm of Kaldheim!

There are two different flavors of Pack Wars events – both of which are Best-of-One formats: a Keeper Swiss League, and a 2-Player Phantom Queue.
Kaldheim runs until Wednesday, September 24, then it will be the turn of Strixhaven: School of Mages!
Get all the details in the Edge of Eternities set article!
Tarkir: Dragonstorm Supreme Draft Starts Tomorrow
The highest-powered draft decks around will be shredding MTGO’s virtual tables following tomorrow’s downtime – it's Supreme Draft starring Tarkir: Dragonstorm!
This single-player Phantom draft experience has you open a booster, pick two cards, and then chuck the rest. Crack another pack, pick two again, and keep going like this until you’ve seen 18 boosters. From there it’s a normal Draft league – play up to 3 best-of-three matches anytime before Through the Omenpaths goes live next Tuesday.
Entry options to Supreme Draft are 8 Event Tickets or 80 Play Points, and the prizes shake out like this:
- 3-0 – 120 Play Points and 3 Treasure Chests
- 2-1 – 80 Play Points
- 1-2 – 40 Play Points
Alternate Play Schedule
Here’s a look at the schedule of events coming up between now and Through the Omenpaths. Each description mentions if the Draft is Phantom – cards won’t be added to players’ collections in Phantom events. All transitions take place at 10:00 a.m. PT (17:00 UTC) unless otherwise noted.
- Until September 17 – These are the weeks where the Vintage Cube League returns! (Phantom)
- September 17-23 – Shred those packs and build the best you can in Tarkir: Dragonstorm Supreme Draft. (Phantom)
When Do Vintage Cube Leagues Return?
- October 1-21 – Update to support MOCS
