Through the Omenpaths on MTGO

Posted on Sep 16, 2025

By The Magic Online Team

As seasons change, it’s time to stroll toward Magic’s next multi-planar tour covering Ravnica, Duskmourn, Thunder Junction, New Capenna, and more! With more webs than the World Wide one, Through the Omenpaths (set code OM1) debuts on Magic Online next Tuesday, September 23 at 10 a.m. Pacific time (17:00 UTC)

The downtime to add this set to MTGO will happen tomorrow, September 17, from 9 a.m. to approximately 12 noon Pacific time (16:00-19:00 UTC). Be sure to follow our social media outlets (Discord, BlueSky and more) to keep real-time tabs on this release.

Features of the next couple months include some serious land upgrades for bling hounds, a whole raft of special events and series, a chunk of the Commander Backlog whittled down, some more quality-of-life upgrades, and an extra wrinkle to Treasure Chests ...

Collecting Through the Omenpaths

Play Boosters

Each OM1 Play Booster will sell for $3.99 USD in the MTGO Store starting on Tuesday at 10 a.m. PT and contains 1-3 rare/mythics.

For this set, the composition is:

NOTE: Due to the small size of this set, there are no Premium Boosters available. Also, we are not offering a Draft Bundle this time.

Introducing Premium Land Bundles!

If you are looking to bling out your decks, we have just the product for you ...

All 10 tri-color clan and shard combinations will have their own distinct Premium Land Bundle going on sale next Tuesday alongside the release of Through the Omenpaths! Each bundle consists of all foils and sells for $54.99 USD.

The ten Bundle options include:

There are several cards in each Bundle being widely released for the first time in foil – here’s what’s included:

Events During OM1 Season

Through the Omenpaths is the first Standard-legal expansion that is specifically designed to be drafted in a different way. OM1’s smaller size utilizes four-player pods with the new Pick-Two method: two picks per pack throughout the draft.

This means we have room to experiment with event structures and timings that we wouldn’t normally try with a full-size expansion. Specifically, we’re going to try out events that give out some boosters as prizes but do not take them as entry options.

OM1 Limited Leagues & Queues

Our suite of OM1 events will be broken into two groups, all starting next Tuesday:

Full details for those events can be found in the companion OM1 Event Structures article.

Additionally, we will offer a 1-week Alternate Play experience with traditional 8-Player, Pick-One draft pods from October 22-29. Details of that League will be announced in a few weeks.

Limited Scheduled Events

During OM1 season, we will be rotating through different formats of the past couple of years for competitive Limited play. Limited Preliminaries and Challenges will use this schedule:

Other Event Updates

Special Events – Extra Life and Vintage vs Type 1 Return

We have two special charity events coming up to get on your radar:

First, it’s the return of Vintage vs. Type 1, the fundraiser for Breakthrough T1D (formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) hosted by Magic luminary Brian David-Marshall. A number of Brian’s friends will be competing in a Vintage Cube trophy race the first few days of October on their own streams.

Then MTGO.com will host a 2-day stream featuring some super-secret guest stars, and you’ll be able to turn donations into free Vintage Cube Drafts, exclusive avatars, or even turn on All-Access for a week! The community raised over $17,000 in last year’s event, so we’re looking to better that record on Saturday-Sunday, October 4-5. Look for an article with full details late next week.

Finally, Magic Online will host a stream as part of Extra Life, the mammoth annual benefit for Children’s Hospitals, on Saturday, November 8! Your favorite MTGO team members will be on hand to share our love for the game with our community, as well as having in-game swag to grant with your donation. We’ll tell you all about it in October.

Season of the Cube Starts October 22

Just because the Vintage Cube League runs out in mid-October doesn’t mean the Cube party has to stop ... we’re lining up an incredible set of 4 weeks of Cubes from all sorts of places in the Season of the Cube!

Look for more details about these starting in mid-October.

Pauper Championship Week in November

November 10-15 is Pauper Championship Week – the same format as this week’s Vintage events.

It’ll have the same structure – earn your way in via a top event finish or pay to play. The Top 32 and ties in the Finals event will receive the event-exclusive avatar!

Alternate Play Schedule

Here’s a look at the schedule of events coming up between now and Through the Omenpaths. Each description mentions if the Draft is Phantom – cards won’t be added to players’ collections in Phantom events. All transitions take place at 10:00 a.m. PT (17:00 UTC) unless otherwise noted.

Commander Corner

First thing to know: Through the Omenpaths does not have any Commander product of its own.

Commander Backlog

The good news is we have made further progress against our Commander Backlog. Extended-Art versions of these cards will be available via Treasure Chests when they rotate around 10 a.m. PT next Tuesday (* indicates regular frame).

Incremental Growth: Quality of Life Improvements

Duel Scene

When you play a game of Magic Online, you often will encounter a stack of triggers to pass through to progress the game. For years we’ve been able to auto-stack triggers from the same source, but now we’re adding the ability to quickly resolve groups of triggers.

The Yield to All button will appear when two or more triggers are on the stack. If you click it, it will create yields to everything currently on the stack.

If new triggers get added after that, you will need to click Yield to All again. For example, if you click Yield All while a Storm trigger is on the stack, you’ll only yield to that and the original spell – a second Yield to All would be needed once the Storm copies are created.

Other trigger yields still work as before, so you can still right-click a trigger while you have priority to yield to all triggers from that source (or choose Always Yes/No).

Look and Feel – Home & Play Lobby

There will be a slight tweak to how events appear in the Home and Play Lobby scenes following tomorrow’s downtime.

We’ve added extra descriptive text for Leagues and Queues. Most of the time, it’ll link to the format page for that room.

Additionally, we’re finally able to customize links from events in the Play Lobby to lead to details about them via the More Info button.

Future Improvements

Our team had a great in-person meetup last month and used it to kick-start a number of bigger-swing efforts on feature improvements. We’re looking forward to sharing the fruits of that labor when we get to the next set!

Magic Online Players Rewards (MOPR) Update

We have heard the requests for regular versions of MOPR cards to be released. With no obvious new cards to release alongside OM1, we’re going to fulfill some of those requests.

The grant on Wednesday, October 1 covers September activity. It will feature regular versions of the retro Innistrad Remastered cards first released in foil back in March.

Then on Monday, November 3, we’ll reward October play with regular versions of cards from various sets released via MOPR in the last 2 years – Edge of Eternities, Jumpstart 2022, Outlaws of Thunder Junction and more.

For more information on earning Player Rewards, click here.

Treasure Chest Update

Treasure Chests will update when OM1 goes on sale next Tuesday – be sure to watch our Twitter/X (@MagicOnline) and our Discord channel to confirm this before opening Chests.

As an experiment, we will be offering MOCS Season 3 Qualifier Points in Treasure Chests over the next month! Collect up to 10 QPs in a single chest to help get to the magic number of 40 to enter a Premier Event.

In that same slot, we’ll be offering awesome new retro-frame versions of some classic cards – chase after 10 classics including Fiery Islet and friends, plus Dismember, Demonic Tutor, and more!

For full details on the changes to come, check out the information page when it updates later this week.

After next Tuesday, the next Treasure Chest update will occur on Wednesday, October 22.

Avatars

We have another new set of Avatars to show you!

New accounts created between next Tuesday and November 18 will receive the Nia, Fabled Skyclimber avatar.

Then it’s time to bestow some Prestige! As usual, you get five points for each Competitive trophy you earn in Leagues and one for each Friendly trophy. At the end of the season (when Through the Omenpaths releases), you'll earn every avatar for which you qualify.

Earning at least five points gets you the uncommon Kivni, Orb Weaver avatar.

Earning at least 20 points nabs you the rare Wrench, Speedway Saboteur avatar.

Earning 40 points or more rewards you with the mythic rare Lazlo, Enthusiastic Accuser avatar.

Odds and Ends

Thanks for being part of our community, and we’ll see you on the battlefield!
