Read All About It – Vintage Cube League On Now

It’s time for another round of Vintage Cube. This iteration features some new overarching themes involving old favorites as well as the debut of cards from Edge of Eternities. Creative Director Ryan Spain and Cube Curator Chris Wolf present the updated card list and archetypes in this article – be sure to give it a read before you start playing.

One of our most popular promotions returns in a couple weeks – All-Access! As usual it’ll cost $25 for access to almost all of the cards on MTGO between time of purchase and 8 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23 – up to 15 days in all!

PREMIER PLAY

Twelve RC Slots Available Over Long Weekend

It’s a bank holiday weekend in many parts of the world, so it’s the perfect time to earn a seat at the first Regional Championships of 2026.

We’ll feature two Limited RC Super Qualifier events comprised of Edge of Eternities Sealed Deck with Top 8 Draft. The first tournament begins this Saturday, August 30 at 7 a.m. PT (14:00 UTC), with the second tournament commencing Sunday, August 31 at the same time.

Then on Monday, September 1, we have a Modern RC Super Qualifier that kicks off at ... you guessed it, 7 a.m. PT.

It takes 40 Event Tickets, 400 Play Points, or 40 Season 3 (red) Qualifier Points to enter a single Super Qualifier. The Top 4 finishers earn seats at the RC and prizes go down to 128^th place. These events are the first to offer Season 3 Leaderboard Points.

MOCS Postseason Concludes Sept 6-7 – Last Chance to Reach the Showcase!

We are down to the final weekend of qualification events for the next MOCS Showcase in October. If you haven’t punched your ticket into that elite 8-player event, your last chances to score an invitation will be in MOCS Showcase Opens on September 6-7!

Featuring Edge of Eternities Sealed Deck with a Top 8 Draft, this is your opportunity to spike a tournament for a big payoff! Entry Options are 40 Event Tickets or 400 Play Points and prizes are paid out to the Top 64 with EOE product.

In addition to reaching the Champions Showcase (with its $50,000 prize pool and two invitations to the 2026 World Championship), the winner of each Showcase Qualifier is invited to the Pro Tour Lorwyn Eclipsed in January plus the set of Regional Championships in October-November feeding that event. Leaderboard Points are also on the line as players seek one of two At-Large invites at the end of the postseason.

The final batch of Leaderboard Points are up for grabs in the Opens, and when the weekend ends the two highest finishers on the Leaderboard snag At-Large invites to the Showcase.

Our intrepid team of Digital Event Coordinators will also be on hand inside the game during the Opens to lend a hand if something goes awry. To contact a DEC, click the Chat button in the top-right corner of the Home Scene, choose Create/Join New Chat …, then type in #DEC and press Enter to join the room.

Our latest Format Championship event will now be held the week of September 15-20 – apologies for any inconvenience. This was the intended timeline all along, but incorrect dates were posted in our teaser item in the Edge of Eternities article.

Magic Online is pleased to bring you weekly streams from some of our top creators. We’ve teamed up with YungDingo to show off MTGO at a regular time each week.

YungDingo takes the reins Friday nights at 6 pm PT (01:00 Tuesday UTC) streaming at twitch.tv/magiconline.

There will be giveaways galore, including Play Point codes and his own unique in-game avatar!

EVENT UPDATES

MTGO Spellgrounds – Standard This Week, Pioneer Starts Friday

Great news – our Spellgrounds project continues! Try out a slice of the current Standard metagame between Monday and Wednesday – all with sideboards geared specifically for this group – all for free!

And as a bonus for the long weekend, we’re running Pioneer’s Spellgrounds event over an extra-long stretch starting this Friday, August 30 all the way to next Wednesday, September 3!

You’ll encounter a Super-Jump style draft – 3 of the 6 decks are presented randomly for you to select one. Then play up to 3 matches without the pressure of prizes on the line.

ALTERNATE PLAY

Pack Wars! Duskmourn Starts Tomorrow

Attention Limited fans: We've taken a long-time favorite of Magic at big conventions and brought it into Magic Online. There are some who call it Mini-Master, but on MTGO it’s Pack Wars! This format is up and running and our next pack at war is Duskmourn: House of Horror.

There are two different flavors of Pack Wars events – both of which are Best-of-One formats: a Keeper Swiss League, and a 2-Player Phantom Queue.

Duskmourn’s events begin tomorrow, August 27 when Tarkir: Dragonstorm’s turn ends.

Alternate Play Schedule

Here’s a look at the schedule of events coming up between now and Through the Omenpaths. Each description mentions if the Draft is Phantom – cards won’t be added to players’ collections in Phantom events. All transitions take place at 10:00 a.m. PT (17:00 UTC) unless otherwise noted.

• Until September 17 – These are the weeks where the Vintage Cube League returns! (Phantom)
• September 17-23 – Shred those packs and build the best you can in Tarkir: Dragonstorm Supreme Draft. (Phantom)

We’ve updated our Redemption page with new quantity percentages.

Aetherdrift and Tarkir: Dragonstorm regular redemptions remain on sale in the MTGO Store. Foil-for-regular redemption sets for those expansions have sold out.

Edge of Eternities redemption tokens will go on sale August 27^th.
