Magic’s first space opera is in flight – Edge of Eternities! Check out this page for information on what we have going on with this set:

Pack Wars! Mini-Master is Now on MTGO

Attention Limited fans: We've taken a long-time favorite of Magic at big conventions and brought it into Magic Online. There are some who call it Mini-Master, but on MTGO it’s Pack Wars! This format is up and running and our first pack at war is Aetherdrift.

There are two different flavors of Pack Wars events – both of which are Best-of-One formats: a Keeper Swiss League, and a 2-Player Phantom Queue.

We have extended the Aetherdrift League by one week – it will now end next Wednesday, August 13. The next set to get Pack Wars will be Tarkir: Dragonstorm!

MTGO BROADCASTS

Save the Date – Next Creator Showdown on Saturday, August 16

Dozens of your favorite Magic content creators will be in action competing for up to $5,000 in cash and prizes in the next MTGO Creator Showdown on Saturday, August 16!

The rotating format of battle this month is Modern and all participants will be streaming simultaneously in this six-round event starting at 9 a.m. PT (16:00 UTC).

Once the field is whittled down to 16 undefeated players, the official MTGO Twitch channel will fire up a broadcast hosted by Admirable (aka Nathan Zamora) and featuring a rotating cast of commentators – this month’s guest will be announced next week – and giveaways galore! Look for that to begin between 10:30 and 11 a.m. PT (17:30-18:00 UTC).

Catch YungDingo Streaming on Fridays

Magic Online is pleased to bring you weekly streams from some of our top creators. We’ve teamed up with YungDingo to show off MTGO at a regular time each week.

YungDingo takes the reins Friday nights at 6 pm PT (01:00 Tuesday UTC) streaming at twitch.tv/magiconline.

There will be giveaways galore, including Play Point codes and his own unique in-game avatar!

MTGO Spellgrounds – Legacy This Week

Great news – our Spellgrounds project continues! Try out a slice of the current Legacy metagame until tomorrow – all with sideboards geared specifically for this group – all for free!

You’ll encounter a Super-Jump style draft – 3 of the 6 decks are presented randomly for you to select one. Then play up to 3 matches without the pressure of prizes on the line.

There are some spicy brews this time, including Eldrazi Aggro, Ninjas, and Dark Maverick!

This week’s Legacy lists are live now on this Moxfield page. Next week’s Pauper Spellgrounds lists will be available later this week – watch our Discord for the link.

PREMIER PLAY

It's Showcase Challenge Weekend

We’re hitting the home stretch of MOCS Season 2, so it’s time to qualify more players for the next round of Showcase Qualifiers in August. 

It takes 40 Season 2 Qualifier Points to enter a Showcase Challenge. The Top 8 finishers in each event earn a Championship Entry Token for the event’s format plus earn Leaderboard Points toward an At-Large berth in the next Showcase!

MOCS Last Chance Events Start Saturday

Here is the full schedule of Last Chance between Saturday, August 9 and Wednesday, August 13:

Each event’s entry is 40 Season 2 QPs plus either 30 Event Tickets or 300 Play Points. Players finishing with 5 match wins will earn a Token good for the Showcase Qualifier in their respective format held August 16-24.

Note: This will be the last season where LCEs will be overlaid on top of the Preliminary schedule. Starting with Season 3, we’ll have pre-defined time slots for each format that will be more evenly spread across the 72-hour period.

First 2026 RC Invites at Stake Friday

It’s a new season for tabletop’s Regional Championship qualifying, so your first chance to earn a seat at the January-February 2026 RC comes up this Friday.

We’ll have a Limited RC Qualifier that kicks off this Friday, August 8 at a special start time of 2 p.m. PT (21:00 UTC)! This will be the first MTGO Premier event to feature Edge of Eternities Sealed Deck with a Top 8 Draft.

It takes 40 Season 2 Qualifier Points to join this event. The Top 2 finishers earn seats at the RC and prizes go down to 64^th place.

Season 2 QP Expiration Coming Soon

We’re closing in on the end of MOCS Season 2 qualifying. You have until the morning of Wednesday, August 13 to collect the last batches. If you’ve been holding on to the blue Season 2 Qualifier Points, you’re running low on chances to use them – but not as low as usual ...

Here’s the full list of remaining Premier Events taking these QPs:

• August 8 – EOE Limited Qualifier
• August 9-10 – Showcase Challenges (Modern & Standard this weekend)
• August 9-13 – Showcase Last Chance Events
  • These require Tickets/Play Points in addition to QPs to enter

Additionally, we have two events after August 13 that will take Season 2 QPs due to upcoming schedule congestion:

• August 15 – Modern Qualifier
• August 22 – EOE Limited Super Qualifier

Expiring QPs Usable for Vintage Cube Single-Elim Aug 13-20

Finally, we have decided that expiring Season 2 Qualifier Points will be redeemable for free entries into the Vintage Cube Single Elimination queue! This will start Wednesday, August 13 at 10 a.m. PT (17:00 UTC) and continue until Wednesday, August 20 at 10 a.m. PT. These events will use the current iteration of the Cube, not the one that will debut later that day in the League.

In a change from past seasons, the number of QPs per free entry is being increased. Each free entry will take 12 Season 2 QPs.

Here’s a look at the schedule of events coming up between now and Through the Omenpaths. Each description mentions if the Draft is Phantom – cards won’t be added to players’ collections in Phantom events. All transitions take place at 10:00 a.m. PT (17:00 UTC) unless otherwise noted.

• Now-August 13 – Edge of Eternities Limited is front and center for these two weeks.
  • The Best-of-One League returns and will run during this period.
• August 13-20 – The first Flashback requested from our Community survey last month – it's Time Spiral-Planar Chaos draft (without all that Sprout Swarm nonsense). (Phantom)
• August 20-September 17 – These are the weeks where the Vintage Cube League returns! (Phantom)
• September 17-23 – Shred those packs and build the best you can in Tarkir: Dragonstorm Supreme Draft. (Phantom)

Redemption Corner

We’ve updated our Redemption page with new quantity percentages.

Aetherdrift regular redemptions remain on sale in the MTGO Store and Tarkir: Dragonstorm redemptions are now available as well!

Edge of Eternities redemption tokens will go on sale August 27^th.

As a reminder, we announced changes to the Redemption Program starting with Bloomburrow – read all about it in this article.

TODAY’S PATCH NOTES –August 5, 2025

Duel Scene

• Wall of Shards will no longer cause the game to reset when doling out life for its cumulative upkeep.
• Foundry Helix will correctly gain you life if you sacrifice an artifact as its additional cost.
• Rampant Rejuvenator will correctly not search for lands if it has negative power when it dies.
• New Way Forward will no longer cause a game reset when preventing damage from a permanent.

NEXT SCHEDULED DOWNTIME – September 17, 9 a.m. to Noon PT

After tomorrow, the next scheduled maintenance is Wednesday, September 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon PT (16:00-19:00 UTC). This is to support the release of Through the Omenpaths.
