It's launch day for Magic’s first space opera – Edge of Eternities! Check out this page for information on what we’ll have going on starting at 10 a.m. PT (17:00 UTC) today:

Pack Wars! Mini-Master is Now on MTGO

Attention Limited fans: We've taken a long-time favorite of Magic at big conventions and brought it into Magic Online. There are some who call it Mini-Master, but on MTGO it’s Pack Wars! This format is up and running and our first pack at war is Aetherdrift.

There are two different flavors of Pack Wars events – both of which are Best-of-One formats: a Keeper Swiss League, and a 2-Player Phantom Queue.

Catch YungDingo Streaming on Fridays

Magic Online is pleased to bring you weekly streams from some of our top creators. We’ve teamed up with YungDingo to show off MTGO at a regular time each week.

YungDingo takes the reins Friday nights at 6 pm PT (01:00 Tuesday UTC) streaming at twitch.tv/magiconline.

There will be giveaways galore, including Play Point codes and his own unique in-game avatar!

PREMIER PLAY

It's Showcase Challenge Weekend

We’re hitting the home stretch of MOCS Season 2, so it’s time to qualify more players for the next round of Showcase Qualifiers in August. 

It takes 40 Season 2 Qualifier Points to enter a Showcase Challenge. The Top 8 finishers in each event earn a Championship Entry Token for the event’s format plus earn Leaderboard Points toward an At-Large berth in the next Showcase!

MOCS Last Chance Event Schedule

We had community requests to publish the schedule of MOCS Last Chance events earlier than normal to help with personal planning. Here is the full schedule of Last Chance between Saturday, August 9 and Wednesday, August 13:

Note: This will be the last season where LCEs will be overlaid on top of the Preliminary schedule. Starting with Season 3, we’ll have pre-defined time slots for each format that will be more evenly spread across the 72-hour period.

Season 2 QP Expiration Coming Soon

We’re closing in on the end of MOCS Season 2 qualifying. You have until the morning of Wednesday, August 13 to collect the last batches. If you’ve been holding on to the blue Season 2 Qualifier Points, you’re running low on chances to use them – but not as low as usual ...

Here’s the full list of remaining Premier Events taking these QPs:

• August 2-10 – Showcase Challenges (Pauper, Legacy, Modern, Standard – in that order)
• August 8 – EOE Limited Qualifier
• August 9-13 – Showcase Last Chance Events
  • These require Tickets/Play Points in addition to QPs to enter

Additionally, we have two events after August 13 that will take Season 2 QPs due to upcoming schedule congestion:

• August 15 – Modern Qualifier
• August 22 – EOE Limited Super Qualifier

Finally, no decision has yet been made regarding draft queues that may accept leftover QPs after season’s end. We’ll announce that in the next couple weeks.

MOCS Season 3 Premier Calendar Posted

Next season’s Premier Calendar is now live on both the Premier Play information page and our Calendar page.

The biggest note is that the September 1 Super Qualifier that was part of Season 2 is now part of Season 3 instead.

Duel Commander B&R Update

The Duel Commander Committee announced its latest Banned and Restricted changelist yesterday.

The following cards are now banned:

• Blood Moon
• Dark Ritual
• Force of Will
• Underworld Breach

Here’s the upcoming schedule:

• July 28 – None (Edge of Eternities launch)

Alternate Play Schedule

Here’s a look at the schedule of events coming up between now and Through the Omenpaths. Each description mentions if the Draft is Phantom – cards won’t be added to players’ collections in Phantom events. All transitions take place at 10:00 a.m. PT (17:00 UTC) unless otherwise noted.

• July 29-August 13 – Edge of Eternities Limited is front and center for these two weeks.
  • The Best-of-One League returns and will run during this period.
• August 13-20 – The first Flashback requested from our Community survey last month – it's Time Spiral-Planar Chaos draft (without all that Sprout Swarm nonsense). (Phantom)
• August 20-27 – Keep cool with one of the snowiest sets around – it's Kaldheim Progressive Sealed! (Keeper)
• August 27-September 17 – These are the weeks where the Vintage Cube League returns! (Phantom)
• September 17-23 – Shred those packs and build the best you can in Tarkir: Dragonstorm Supreme Draft. (Phantom)

When Do Vintage Cube Leagues Return?

Redemption Corner

We’ve updated our Redemption page with new quantity percentages.

Aetherdrift regular redemptions remain on sale in the MTGO Store and Tarkir: Dragonstorm redemptions are now available as well!

Edge of Eternities redemption tokens will go on sale August 27^th.

As a reminder, we announced changes to the Redemption Program starting with Bloomburrow – read all about it in this article.

TOMORROW’S PATCH NOTES – July 29, 2025

Format-Specific

• The free mulligan rule for Pack Wars was correctly implemented last Friday.

Duel Scene

• The game reset caused by Delver of Secrets’ trigger was hotfixed last week.
• Several cards that involved interaction with the library (Narcomeoba, Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, etc) were hotfixed last week.
• Doom Foretold’s sacrifice trigger will no longer cause a game reset.
• Kaito, Bane of Nightmares will correctly no longer be exiled by Containment Priest if its ninjutsu ability is used.
• If Containment Priest enters the battlefield at the same time as other nontoken creatures that weren’t cast, those creatures will no longer be exiled.
• Zooming on a face-down card will correctly display the front card face.

NEXT SCHEDULED DOWNTIME – September 17, 9 a.m. to Noon PT

After tomorrow, the next scheduled maintenance is Wednesday, September 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon PT (16:00-19:00 UTC). This is to support the release of Through the Omenpaths.
