THE LEAD

No Holds Barred Vintage Cube Starts Tomorrow

Ryan Spain returns with the gloves off as anything goes in the No Holds Barred Vintage Cube returning to Magic Online starting tomorrow at 10 a.m. PT (18:00 UTC). This slimmed-down Cube runs for two weeks until December 10 and will be offered in both a League and a single-elimination queue. For details including the full card list, check out this article.

Daybreak Closed for Thanksgiving

The Magic Online team will be off for the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday-Friday, November 27-28. Please excuse any delays in response on those days, including from Customer Service..

Two Showcase Challenges This Weekend

We’re hitting the home stretch of the current MOCS season – time for the last players to earn invitations to December’s Showcase Qualifiers that feed the next Showcase in January!

Here’s the schedule of remaining Showcase Challenges this round:

It takes 40 Season 3 Qualifier Points to enter a Showcase Challenge.

The Top 8 finishers earn Championship Entry Tokens used to enter that format’s Showcase Qualifier in December. Prizes in the Showcase Challenge pay out to the Top 128!

First RC Invites of New Round at Stake Friday

It’s a new season for tabletop’s Regional Championship qualifying, so your first chance to earn a seat at the April-June 2026 RC comes up this Friday.

We’ll have a Limited RC Super Qualifier that kicks off this Friday, November 28 at 7 a.m. PT (15:00 UTC)! This will be the first MTGO Premier event to feature Magic: The Gathering® | Avatar: The Last Airbender™ Sealed Deck with a Top 8 Draft.

It takes 40 Season 3 Qualifier Points to join this event. The Top 4 finishers earn seats at the RC and prizes go down to 128^th place.

MOCS Last Chance Events Start Sunday

Here is the full schedule of Last Chance between Sunday, November 30 and Wednesday, December 3.

Each event’s entry is 40 Season 2 QPs plus either 30 Event Tickets or 300 Play Points. Players finishing with 5 match wins will earn a Token good for the Showcase Qualifier in their respective format held December 6-14.

Note that unlike past seasons, the Last Chance Schedule does not correspond to Preliminary times (however, those Preliminaries are still pre-empted during this period).

Season 3 QP Expiration Coming Soon

We’re closing in on the end of MOCS Season 3 qualifying. You have until downtime on Wednesday, December 3 to collect the last batches. If you’ve been holding on to the red Season 3 Qualifier Points, you’re running low on chances to use them – but not as low as usual ...

Here’s the full list of remaining Premier Events taking these QPs:

• November 23-30 – Showcase Challenge events

• November 28 –TLA Limited RC Super Qualifier
• November 30-December 3 – Showcase Last Chance Events
  • These require Tickets/Play Points in addition to QPs to enter

Additionally, we have one event after December 3 that will take Season 3 QPs due to upcoming schedule congestion:

• December 5 – TLA RC Limited Super Qualifier

Expiring QPs Usable for No Holds Barred Vintage Cube League Dec 3-10

Finally, we have decided that expiring Season 3 Qualifier Points will be redeemable for free entries into the No Holds Barred Vintage Cube League! This will start following downtime on December 3 and continue until Wednesday, December 10 at 10 a.m. PT.

In a change from past seasons, the number of QPs per free entry is being increased. Each free entry will take 12 Season 3 QPs.

EVENT UPDATES

Duel Commander on MTGO Update

After our announcement last week to pause Duel Commander scheduled events, the community made clear that there is a single source of truth for format updates – the Duel Commander Committee’s new website.

Therefore, MTGO will reactivate its support for the format by bringing back Duel Commander Trials starting today. Additionally, the updated ban list has been applied (Breya unbanned as Commander, Nadu fully banned) and a new instance of the League has begun.

Scheduled Event Changes

A regular review of play data has led us to make some adjustments to the event schedule effective today:

• Duel Commander Trials on Monday-Wednesday afternoons Pacific time have been removed
• A Pauper Challenge 32 event has been added Thursdays at 11 a.m. PT (19:00 UTC)
• The TLA Single-Elimination queue will revert to being Keeper instead of Phantom using the normal prize structure found here.

Alternate Play Schedule

Here’s a look at the schedule of events coming up between now and MTGO’s Holidays. Each description mentions if the Draft is Phantom – cards won’t be added to players’ collections in Phantom events. All transitions take place at 10:00 a.m. PT (18:00 UTC) unless otherwise noted.

• November 26-December 10 – It's the return of the No-Holds-Barred Vintage Cube – Power to the Max! (Phantom)
• December 10-17 – Chris Wolf returns with a Pick-3 variant of the Vintage Cube complete with another custom configuration: Triple Supreme Vintage Cube. (Phantom)

Pack Wars! Shadowmoor Continues

Attention Limited fans: We've taken a long-time favorite of Magic at big conventions and brought it into Magic Online. There are some who call it Mini-Master, but on MTGO it’s Pack Wars!

Currently, Shadowmoor is the featured set. Next week, the baton will be passed to Murders at Karlov Manor

There are two different flavors of Pack Wars events – both of which are Best-of-One formats: a Keeper Swiss League, and a 2-Player Phantom Queue.

Redemption Corner

Edge of Eternities redemption tokens are on sale, but inventory is beginning to run low. Check out our Redemption page for full program rules and inventory levels (updated weekly). As a reminder, the game itself is the most current place to determine if there is stock remaining for Redemption Tokens.

Tarkir: Dragonstorm regular redemptions have been restocked in a limited supply. Outlaws of Thunder Junction foils-for-regular remain available in small quantities.

Through the Omenpaths and Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender are not redeemable sets.
