Read All About It – Vintage Supreme Draft Starts Tomorrow

The long-promised curated Vintage Cube variant of the pick-2-and-throw-‘em Limited format makes its way onto Magic Online following tomorrow's downtime. Our resident Cubemeister Chris Wolf has pieced together a 510-card set to explore the highest reaches of the power curve. You can check out his article and full list on this page.

You’ll have to act fast to get games in this League, though, as it runs only until Lorwyn Eclipsed launches on Tuesday. The normal Cube League entry options – 10 Event Tickets or 100 Play Points – and prize structures apply.

Vintage Cube Holiday League Ends Tomorrow

Our current round of Vintage Cube League is just about complete – be sure to use up any Vintage Cube Entry Tokens before tomorrow’s downtime!

As a reminder, we offer Vintage Cube all the time in our single-elimination queue.

Magic Online will be offline for scheduled maintenance tomorrow, January 14, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon PT (16:00-19:00 UTC). Be sure to follow our social channels for updates. 

PREMIER PLAY

Congratulations Antonin Braniş, 2025 Season 3 MOCS Showcase Champion! 

Eight of Magic Online’s top competitors gathered this weekend to earn their share of $50,000 and two invitations to the 2026 World Championship. In the end, it was toondoslav Antonin Braniş, who emerged victorious! 

The day began with Vintage Cube and Antonin was the top performer. The Czech player ran an aggressive Rakdos build aided by Black Lotus, plus solid finishers in Headliner Scarlett and Gut, True Soul Zealot. His opponent in the pod finals was Japan’s Soichiro Kohara, who sported a four-color build featuring heavy hitters Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath and Omnath, Locus of Creation. Antonin won two quick games to lock up a seat in the Championship round.

In the Modern rounds, the Worlds slot was contested between this season's Legacy and Pioneer champions – France's Noé Fauquenoi and Brazil’s Claudio Miranda.  Noé took the combo route with Neoform, while Claudio wielded Jeskai Midrange deck. In the end Neoform prevailed in three games to lock Noé up the second Championship spot. 

The final face-off was the rubber match between the two pod winners – Antonin had bested Noé in Cube, and Noé returned the favor in Modern.

The raw power of the Neoform combo roared in Game 1 as Noé scored a Turn 2 win thanks to many Ghaltas. But Antonin stormed back to take the last two games, making amends for his sole loss with Esper Blink to emerge as the Showcase Champion! 

Antonin took home $15,000 as Champion, while Noé earned $8,000. Both players will appear at the Magic World Championship later this year!

Two RC Qualifier Events Over Long Weekend

With another long holiday weekend taking place in the U.S. alongside tabletop Prereleases of Lorwyn Eclipsed worldwide, the Premier schedule has an unusual look. Nevertheless, four Regional Championship invitations are up for grabs!

We’ll have a Modern RC Qualifier that kicks off this Friday, January 16 at a special time of 2 p.m. PT (22:00 UTC). 

Then on Monday, January 19, a Limited RC Qualifier starts each day at 7 a.m. PT (15:00 UTC) featuring TLA Sealed Deck with Top 8 Draft. 

Each of these Qualifier tournaments require 40 Season 1 Qualifier Points to enter. The Top 2 finishers get invited to the April-May RC round and prizes extend down to 64^th place!

Pack Wars! Lorwyn Continues

Attention Limited fans: We've taken a long-time favorite of Magic at big conventions and brought it into Magic Online. There are some who call it Mini-Master, but on Magic Online it’s Pack Wars!

Lorwyn is on now until next Wednesday, then Phyrexia: All Will Be One will take over for two weeks.

There are two different flavors of Pack Wars events – both of which are Best-of-One formats: a Keeper Swiss League, and a 2-Player Phantom Queue.

ECL Early Access Streams Thursday & Friday 

Dozens of your favorite creators will be showcasing the new set in Magic Online Early Access streams! Tune in this Thursday, January 15 at 10 a.m. PT (18:00 UTC) until Friday at 12 noon PT (20:00 UTC). Check with your favorites to see who will be on at which times.

Redemption Corner

Check out our Redemption page for full program rules and inventory levels (updated weekly). As a reminder, the game itself is the most current place to determine if there is stock remaining for Redemption Tokens.

Lorwyn Eclipsed redemption tokens are planned to go on sale Wednesday, February 11.

Edge of Eternities redemption tokens have sold out, both regular and foil-for-regular!

Outlaws of Thunder Junction foils-for-regular remain available in small quantities.

Through the Omenpaths and Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender are not redeemable sets.

TOMORROW’S PATCH NOTES – January 14, 2026

Duel Scene

• The Yield to All and Always Yield to This functions will correctly apply to Storm copies on the stack.
• If a player is prevented from drawing cards by an effect, the Game Log will correctly record that.
• Cards that are newly controlled will retain that designation even if all creatures gain haste.
• A vigilant Civil Servant will no longer be able to tap itself for its ability.

Look and Feel

• The display colors of each Constructed format will be more unified through the client.
• The way decklist contents are displayed outside of Collection will be more unified through the client.
• The default size of the Exile (Can Be Cast) and similar pop-up windows will be larger.

NEXT SCHEDULED DOWNTIME – February 25, 9 a.m.-Noon

After tomorrow’s downtime, the next scheduled maintenance is Wednesday, February 25 from 9 a.m. to noon PT (17:00-20:00 UTC). This is to support the release of Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
