Lorwyn Eclipsed on Magic Online

After over fifteen years, it’s time to return to the pastoral plane of Magic with both light and dark sides! Lorwyn Eclipsed (set code ECL) debuts on Magic Online next Tuesday, January 20 at 10 a.m. PT (18:00 UTC).

The downtime to add this set to the game will happen tomorrow, January 14, from 9 a.m. to approximately 12 noon Pacific time (17:00-20:00 UTC). Be sure to follow our social media outlets (Discord, BlueSky and more) to keep real-time tabs on this release.

How to Collect and Play Lorwyn Eclipsed

Play Boosters

Each ECL Play Booster will sell for $3.99 USD in the Magic Online Store starting on Tuesday at 10 a.m. PT and contains 1-3 rare/mythics.

For this set, the composition is:

• 7 regular commons
  • 1 in 55 Play Boosters will have a common replaced by a Special Guest card
• 3 regular uncommons
• 1 regular rare or mythic
• 1 regular wildcard – that is, a non-foil of any rarity
• 1 foil wildcard – a foil in every pack!
• 1 basic land – standard-frame or full-art, in either regular or foil

Premium Boosters

Our exclusive Premium Booster is back!

The 10-card Lorwyn Eclipsed Premium Booster will sell for $6.99 USD in the Store starting next Tuesday. Here’s the layout – each Premium booster contains 5 rares/mythics and at least 8 foils:

• 2 foil uncommons
• 2 foil commons
• 1 foil full-art basic land
• 1 foil rare/mythic (regular frame)
• 1 regular borderless Commander set rare/mythic
• 2 Booster Fun rare/mythics (1 regular, 1 foil)
  • Main set – Extended Art, Borderless, Fable Frame
• 1 foil top-tier rare/mythic
  • Can be Special Guest, Shockland (either face), or Japan Showcase Fracture Foil

ECL Draft Bundle

The Draft Bundle is back with Lorwyn Eclipsed.

Thie idea is “Buy 3, Pay Less” – plus get an avatar! The Draft Bundle will sell for $32.00 USD in the Magic Online Store starting next Tuesday. That represents a $4 savings off buying Event Tickets to cover those events.

The Draft Bundle contains three Draft Entry Tokens which can be used to enter the Lorwyn Eclipsed Draft League during its first three weeks, plus this set’s avatar exclusive to this product: Vibrance!

Neither the Bundle nor its contents are tradeable.

• Events: These Tokens are only for the Draft League, not single-elimination.
• Expiration: Draft Entry Tokens must be used in the first three weeks of League play – they expire Wednesday, February 11 at 10 a.m. PT. Unused Tokens will be removed at that time and are non-refundable!
  • The Bundle will leave the store on Tuesday, February 10.

Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander

This set has two new Commander decks for you to enjoy (set code ECC). Each deck features 12 brand-new cards plus a suite of reprints. The decks will sell for $29.99 USD each in the Store starting next Tuesday. They are:

• Blight Curse (black-red-green)
• Dance of the Elements (five-color)

New Starter Kit – Angels and Pirates

Players who are new to Magic Online have another entry-level product to help them acclimate the game when ECL debuts.  Our Angels and Pirates Starter Kit includes two 60-card, typal-strategy decks playable in Standard out of the box. You can see the decks’ contents here.

The Starter Kit will sell for $12.99 USD in the Store starting next Tuesday.

Booster Fun

We’ve got a wide variety of card styles coming your way with this set! Here’s a breakdown of where you can find each series of special treatments – “Yes" indicates both regular and normal foil available:

*On Magic Online, each face of the reversible Shock Lands will be its own card, similar to the reversible Ugin cards from Tarkir Dragonstorm.

Alternate Play Schedule

Here’s a look at the schedule of events coming up between now and the next set release. Each description mentions if the Draft is Phantom – cards won’t be added to players’ collections in Phantom events. All transitions take place at 10:00 a.m. PT (18:00 UTC) unless otherwise noted.

• Tomorrow-January 20: We close out TLA season with the Vintage Supreme Draft – the high-power, draft-two-and-toss-em format we had originally aimed for November. (Phantom)

• January 20-28: Lorwyn Eclipsed Limited is front and center for this week.
  • The Best-of-One League returns but will only run for the first week until January 28.
• January 28-February 25: Vintage Cube makes a quick return and sticks around for four weeks! (Phantom)

• February 25-March 3: We are still considering our options for this week ...

Magic Online Players Rewards (MOPR) Update

Here’s what is coming up in MOPR.

The grant on Monday, February 2 covers January activity. It will feature all of the Promo Pack uncommons from ECL as well as the uncommon Fable Frame cards, all in foil.

Then on Monday, March 2, we’ll reward February play with brand-new promo cards – the 10 Shadowmoor filter lands (Fetid Heath and company) in a retro frame, all in foil.

Treasure Chest Update

Treasure Chests will update when ECL goes on sale next Tuesday – be sure to watch our Twitter/X (@MagicOnline) and our Discord channel to confirm this before opening Chests.

For full details on the changes to come, check out the information page when it updates later this week. Many of your Booster Fun favorites will be available via the Treasure Chest – see the chart above.

After next Tuesday, the next Treasure Chest update will occur on Wednesday, February 18.

Avatars

We have another new set of Avatars to show you!

New accounts created between next Tuesday and March 3 will receive the Champion of the Clachen avatar.

Our next round of Vintage Cube starting February 4 will offer a Bundle-exclusive avatar – Abigale, Eloquent First-Year.

Then it’s time to bestow some Prestige! As usual, you get five points for each Competitive trophy you earn in Leagues and one for each Friendly trophy. At the end of the season (when Magic: The Gathering® | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™ releases), you'll earn every avatar for which you qualify.

Earning at least five points gets you the uncommon Grub, Notorious Auntie avatar.

Earning at least 20 points nabs you the rare Oko, Shadowmoor Scion avatar.

Earning 40 points or more rewards you with the mythic rare Ajani, Outland Chaperone avatar.

Odds and Ends

• Lorwyn Eclipsed will be redeemable. Redemption Tokens are planned to go on sale in the Store on Wednesday, February 11. Stay tuned to the Weekly Announcement Blog at MTGO.com for details.
  • As a reminder, physical foil redemption sets are no longer available. You can redeem a full digital set of either regular or premium Lorwyn Eclipsed cards to get a regular physical set. Full details can be found here.
• Constructed and Limited events will rotate to ECL versions of the same event on release day, so make sure you complete any Leagues before the set launches.
• Reprints in Lorwyn Eclipsed that are entering a format won’t become legal until the new Leagues kick off next Tuesday.
• The refreshed New Account Kit with ECL commons will be available next Tuesday when ECL goes on sale.
  • The Account Upgrade Kit, Collection Upgrade Kit, and Commander Workshop will not be updated with this set.
