2025 Holidays Start December 17 – Details Next Week

Scheduled Downtime Tomorrow, 9 a.m.-Noon PT

Magic Online will be offline for scheduled maintenance tomorrow, December 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon PT (17:00-20:00 UTC). Be sure to follow our social channels for updates.

No Holds Barred Vintage Cube Update Later Today

We apologize for the issue with duplicates in the No Holds Barred Cube last Wednesday. While having last year’s version now is a fine backup plan, we hope to be able to switch to the brand-new 495-card list with tomorrow’s downtime. We’re working feverishly to make that happen but it isn’t yet guaranteed. When we know which way it will land later today, we will

• Update the article displayed with the new version’s info, or
• We’ll extend the current version one more week.

In either case, you’ll be able to use 12 expiring Season 3 QPs for a free entry following tomorrow’s downtime.

MOCS Postseason Begins This Weekend

It’s time once again to qualify players for the next Magic Online Champions Showcase in January! Over the next two weekends, Top 8 finishers from Showcase Challenges and 5-win players from Last Chance events (see Premier Play below) will battle until one remains as this season’s Showcase Champion for that format.

In addition to reaching the Champions Showcase (with its $50,000 prize pool and two invitations to the 2026 World Championship), the winner of each Showcase Qualifier is invited to the second Pro Tour of 2026 plus the Regional Championship round in January-March feeding that event. Leaderboard Points are also on the line as players seek one of two At-Large invites at the end of the postseason.

If you miss out on reaching the Showcase Qualifiers, you’ll have a final shot at reaching the MOCS Showcase from one of two Limited-format MOCS Open events on December 20-21.

Expiring QPs Usable for No Holds Barred Vintage Cube Single Elimination December 3-10

Those Season 3 Qualifier Points that expire tomorrow will be redeemable for free entries into the No Holds Barred Vintage Cube Single Elimination queue! This will start tomorrow following downtime and continue until Wednesday, December 10 at 10 a.m. PT. These events will use the No Holds Barred Cube list.

In a change first implemented last season, the number of QPs per free entry has been increased. Each free entry will take 12 Season 3 QPs. Regular entry options of 10 Event tickets or 100 Play Points still apply.

PREMIER PLAY

Last Premier Event Taking Expiring QPs This Friday

It’s a new season for tabletop’s Regional Championship qualifying, so your next chance to earn a seat at the April-June 2026 RC comes up this Friday.

We’ll have a Limited RC Super Qualifier that kicks off this Friday, December 5 at 7 a.m. PT (15:00 UTC)! This will feature Magic: The Gathering® | Avatar: The Last Airbender™ Sealed Deck with a Top 8 Draft.

It takes 40 of the expiring Season 3 Qualifier Points to join this event, and only Season 3 QPs can be used (not Season 1). The Top 4 finishers earn seats at the RC and prizes go down to 128^th place.

MOCS Last Chance Events Run Until Downtime

Here is the full schedule of Last Chance between Sunday, November 30 and Wednesday, December 3. The ones in bold can still be joined.

Each event’s entry is 40 Season 2 QPs plus either 30 Event Tickets or 300 Play Points. Players finishing with 5 match wins will earn a Token good for the Showcase Qualifier in their respective format held December 6-14.

Note that unlike past seasons, the Last Chance Schedule does not correspond to Preliminary times (however, those Preliminaries are still pre-empted during this period).

2026 MOCS Season 1 Starts Tomorrow

The 2026 MOCS year begins tomorrow. Following downtime, players will earn the Yellow Season 1 Qualifier Points good toward qualification for the Showcase in May 2026 as well as the current Regional Championship Qualifying season.

Our Premier Play Rules pages have been updated to show information on the new season, including the next schedule of Qualifiers, Super Qualifiers, and MOCS events.

The only main change to the information is that 2026 MOCS Showcases will be conducted on Thursdays instead of Fridays (still broadcast the following Sunday).

Your first chance to use the new Yellow Season 1 QPs for Premier event entry will be on December 26^th.

EVENT UPDATES

No Holds Barred Vintage Cube Continues

Chris Wolf returns with the gloves off as anything goes in the No Holds Barred Vintage Cube. This slimmed-down Cube runs until December 10 and will be offered in both a League and a single-elimination queue. For details including the full card list, check out this article.

Alternate Play Schedule

Here’s a look at the schedule of events coming up between now and Magic Online Holidays. Each description mentions if the Draft is Phantom – cards won’t be added to players’ collections in Phantom events. All transitions take place at 10:00 a.m. PT (18:00 UTC) unless otherwise noted.

• Until December 10 – It's the return of the No-Holds-Barred Vintage Cube – Power to the Max! (Phantom)
• December 10-17 – Chris Wolf returns with a Pick-3 variant of the Vintage Cube complete with another custom configuration: Triple Supreme Vintage Cube. (Phantom)

Pack Wars! Murders at Karlov Manor Begins After Downtime

Attention Limited fans: We've taken a long-time favorite of Magic at big conventions and brought it into Magic Online. There are some who call it Mini-Master, but we call it Pack Wars!

Following tomorrow's downtime, the baton will be passed to Murders at Karlov Manor for two weeks.

There are two different flavors of Pack Wars events – both of which are Best-of-One formats: a Keeper Swiss League, and a 2-Player Phantom Queue.

Redemption Corner

Edge of Eternities redemption tokens are on sale, but inventory is beginning to run low. Check out our Redemption page for full program rules and inventory levels (updated weekly). As a reminder, the game itself is the most current place to determine if there is stock remaining for Redemption Tokens.

Tarkir: Dragonstorm regular redemptions have been restocked in a limited supply. Outlaws of Thunder Junction foils-for-regular remain available in small quantities.

Note: Orders processed on December 30^th will be delayed up to one week due to Daybreak’s winter break.

Through the Omenpaths and Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender are not redeemable sets.

Card Fixes

• Diaochan, Artful Beauty’s activated ability will work as expected.
• Secret Tunnel will correctly make eligible creatures unblockable whether or not they are tokens.
• Deadly Precision will be able to resolve when cast via Hana, the Bloodbender.
• Hei Bei, Forest Guardian will display correct text when no Shrine can be found.
