Vintage Cube League Ends Tomorrow
The next round of Vintage Cube League concludes tomorrow. If you have any Vintage Cube Draft Tokens remaining, be sure to use them up before they expire at tomorrow’s downtime!
Read All About It – Vintage Supreme Draft Returns Tomorrow
Did you enjoy the first go-round of the Vintage Supreme Draft last month? Got it figured out, or maybe you missed out?
Fear not, for a second chance to tackle the pick-2-and-toss-’em format returns to Magic Online following tomorrow's downtime. Our resident Cubemeister Chris Wolf has pieced together a 510-card set to explore the highest reaches of the power curve. You can check out his article and full list on this page – this is the exact same set of cards as the January event!
You’ll have to act fast to get games in this League, though, as it runs only until Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launches on Tuesday. The normal Cube League entry options – 10 Event Tickets or 100 Play Points – and prize structures apply.
Scheduled Downtime Tomorrow, 9 a.m.-Noon PT
Magic Online will be offline for scheduled maintenance tomorrow, February 25, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon PT (17:00-20:00 UTC). Be sure to follow our social channels for updates. The 9 a.m. Modern Challenge will be rescheduled for 30 minutes after downtime ends.
EVENT UPDATES
Contraption Changes Over to No-Banned-List Modern Tomorrow
It’s finally time for another format to take the baton in Contraption, our rotating ruleset space.
One of the most-requested zany formats, No-Banned-List Modern, will become available for four weeks following tomorrow’s downtime!
- We’ll start out with a six-day Friendly League as a warm-up that runs until TMT launches.
- Then a regular League will run for three weeks until March 18.
- Finally, a handful of Challenge 32 events will be sprinkled across the schedule over the second and third weeks of March.
This is the perfect palette cleanser for those transitioning from Standard to Modern for the upcoming RC season, or just a fun puzzle to solve for anybody to try – have fun!
Premodern Format-Specific Rooms Open Tomorrow
Meanwhile, as promised: Based on consistent turnout from the community in Leagues and Challenges since its debut in December, Premodern will take its place as an evergreen format tomorrow.
This means Premodern will have dedicated Best-of-One and Best-of-Three rooms under Constructed -> Specialty. That will continue to be the spot to find Challenge 32 events as well.
Finally, Premodern fans, save the date: The first Premodern Championship Week is planned to start Monday, May 25 with Finals on Saturday, May 30!
Important: After tomorrow's downtime, you will need to manually convert any decks from Contraption to Premodern format in the deck's settings to enable using them in Premodern matches. This is a one-time change for each old Contraption deck.
Pack Wars Times Four! Lorwyn, Morningtide, Shadowmoor, and Eventide Continues
Attention Limited fans: We've taken a long-time favorite of Magic at big conventions and brought it into Magic Online. There are some who call it Mini-Master, but on Magic Online it’s Pack Wars!
This time we’ve got a twist – instead of four packs of one set, you’ll progress with one pack each of four sets. Lorwyn will lead off, followed by the next three sets tied to that plane – Morningtide, Shadowmoor, and Eventide!

We are only able to run the Keeper Swiss League this time (no Phantom queue).
This will run until next Wednesday, March 3. Then we’ll debut Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty with a different price and prize structure.
Get all the details on the Limited Events page!
When Do Vintage Cube Leagues Return?
- February 25 - March 3 – Vintage Supreme returns (Cube unaltered from January)
- March 11 - April 8 – Spring Vintage Cube Update

TOMORROW’S PATCH NOTES – February 25, 2026
Card Fixes
- Cards with abilities/effects that replace card draws in some way (Island Sanctuary; Hullbreacher; Jace, Wielder of Mysteries; the Dredge mechanic; etc) have been reimplemented.
- Burning-Rune Demon’s triggered ability will work as expected.
- Cursed Scroll will work as expected when revealing a split card.
- In multiplayer, Demonic Stench will correctly affect all opponents, not just the most recent in turn order.
- Inkfathom Witch will correctly only adjust power/toughness of unblocked attacking creatures (and not during earlier parts of the turn).
- Kangee, Sky Warden will correctly trigger when both its controller and another player are attacked.
- The Ozolith will correctly not add counters to the targeted creature if the artifact is destroyed in response to that trigger.
Collection
- Premodern will have its own search filter and deck section.
- NOTE: Premodern decks currently assigned to Contraption format will need to be manually converted via a deck’s Settings (gear icon) to be usable in Premodern games following downtime.
Duel Scene
- The prompt to proceed from first strike damage to regular damage will correctly read “Combat Damage”.
- For spells and abilities playable via Waterbending, Convoke, or Improvise, the right-click menu will have clearer text to show which method you’re using to cast that spell.
- If your graveyard is empty when directed to shuffle it into your library (Day’s Undoing, Commit/Memory, etc), the game will correctly shuffle the library.
Store
- The Maestros Massacre deck from Streets of New Capenna Commander will be available for purchase immediately following downtime.
NEXT SCHEDULED DOWNTIME – April 15, 9 a.m.-Noon
After tomorrow, the next scheduled maintenance is Wednesday, April 15 from 9 a.m. to noon PT (16:00-19:00 UTC). This is to support the release of Secrets of Strixhaven.
